Set off to explore Bhubaneswar Temples covering Parasurameswar Temple from 7th Century AD, a fine specimen of Oriyan (of Odisha) style of architecture with beautiful carvings of Hindu Gods and Goddesses; Mukteswar Temple Complex from 10th Century AD displays exquisite carvings and architecture and is a gem of ancient Odishan temple architecture; the elegant reddish and yellow sandstone built Rajarani Temple from 10th Century AD features erotic sculptures; Lingaraj Temple Complex is one of the oldest and largest Hindu temples in the city (Non Hindus are not allowed inside Lingaraj Temple. We will show them on erected Platform.).
Proceed for a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch visit Chausath (64) Yogini Temple of Hirapur, 20 km out of Bhubaneshwar city. This 9th century temple is a tantric temple dedicated to 64 different Hindu Goddesses, and is built in a circular fashion with blocks of sandstone. Next, drive to Pipli, famous for its beautiful appliqué work.
Later, visit to Dhauli Rock Edict’s of Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire from the 3rd Century BC. It is this place where the famous King Ashoka had converted to Buddhism and installed rock edicts to record his new maxim after the end of the great war of Kalinga in 262 BCE. Dhauli is now an important centre for Buddhism in India.
Evening you will proceed to the Shanti Stupa and watch the Light and Sound Show; a spectacular retelling of the glorious history of ancient Odisha.
