Day 1: Bhubaneswar – Konark (72 Kms/ 02 Hrs) – Puri (36 Kms/ 01 Hr)
Start your day with the drive to Konark, the mystical city that is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Konark Sun Temple. The 13th century temple is an intriguing sight with its colossal chariot shaped marvelous architecture. Dedicated to the Sun God, the ruined temple is a treasure. The exquisite carvings and skills of artisans still shine through. Soak in the intrinsic charm still lingering in the ambiance.
Next you will visit Chandrabhaga beach, a beautiful expanse of silvery soft sands lapped by the waters of the Bay of Bengal. The beach is mentioned in many mythological tales, and is considered one of the finest, cleanest and greenest beaches in eastern India. Spend time at the beach enjoying the natural beauty.
Afterwards, proceed to Puri - a town in Odisha with long recorded history dating to the 3rd century BC. Visit Puri Jagannath temple and Gundicha temple. The Puri Jagannath temple is one of the holy places in Hindu faith. Mentioned as one of the divine Char Dhams (Four Hindu Pilgrimages Circuit in India), the temple is dedicated to the "Lord of the Universe' Jagannath. The 11th century temple, also known as Jagannath Puri, is famous for its annual holy Rath Yatra or Chariot festival, which attracts millions of Hindu pilgrims each year. Pay your respects and move to the Gundicha temple. This temple is the venue of the highly celebrated Puri Rath Yatra Festival (the homecoming festival of the deities of Jagannath Temple).
Afterwards, relax at the Golden sand beach of Puri. The views of sunset are breathtaking here. Enjoy long walks on the soft sands. Explore the beach eateries where delicacies of the fresh catch can be tasted. Check out tribal handicrafts and other specialties. Shop for some delightful souvenirs. Return to hotel for overnight stay at Puri.
Day 2: Puri – Chillika (37 Kms/ 50 Mins ) – Bhubaneswar (130 Kms/ 03 Hrs)
Start your day early. Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at hotel. Depart for Satpara town and visit Chilika Lake. Asia's largest brackish water lagoon, Chilika is recognized as one of the most important wetlands in the world. It is known for the spotting of beautiful Irrawaddy dolphins (a rare species of dolphins found near sea coasts and in estuaries and rivers in parts of the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia). The Lake is also home to a phenomenal variety of birds. Spectacular display of colorful avian charms in a thousand different hues presented by over 160 species awaits here. Spend the day exploring the pleasures of the wetland. Afternoon return to Bhubaneswar and on the way visit Pipli, a town of artisans famous for their colourful and beautiful appliqué handicraft. This heritage art is the source of livelihood for most people of this region.
After a day well-spent, return to Puri in the evening and get transferred to your hotel.
